Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Foundations of Geometry is a class designed to support students interested in learning more about Geometry topics taught at the high school level. As a professional Geometry teacher, I will guide the class through the foundations of Geometry instruction with the purpose of long-term mastery. Students will be asked to complete problems during the lesson to show understanding. I will be teaching using Smart Notebook, a TI-84 calculator, Desmos.com, DeltaMath.com, Quizizz.com, Quizlet.com, and other excellent web resources to maximize student achievement and engagement. Lessons will be a mixture of slides, exploration, games, and discussion questions. Having been exposed to Pre-Algebra will benefit any student, but it is not a pre-requisite.

In each of these lessons, I will …
1.	… utilize my accessibility to professional educational software and free websites available to all learners on the internet.
2.	… provide the class with scaffold learning opportunities, where each student can be successful and grow at their pace.
3.	… give students opportunities to ask questions and interact with the lesson in ways that are purposeful and meaningful towards developing long-term, concrete understanding of the concepts presented.
4.	… inspire students to understand the deeper meaning and purpose of mathematics and all its importance to the progress of humankind.
5.	… show students free resources they can use to improve the skills presents.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their knowledge of Geometry and utilize their skills to think critically as problem solvers.

Hello and welcome to my profile! I'm a high school math teacher, yoga instructor, entrepreneur, and lover of life. I have a loving, kind, and patient partner named Garner. We have a blended family with 3 daughters, 2 dogs, and one cat! I love family, teaching, sports, yoga, hiking, camping, being outdoors, creating things, and learning new things. I absolutely LOVE teaching on Outschool!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Teaching with a concentration in grades 7-12. I've taught high school mathematics for 6 years including Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. During Covid, I had the opportunity to teach virtually and loved it. I've worked with students who are autistic, have ADHD, ODD, and anxiety to name a few.

I love the daily grind and working to improve my teaching processes and techniques. Teaching provides me the platform I need to constantly be challenged.
