Let's warm up this winter by sprinkling some summer vibes into our creative writing! So grab a slice of watermelon and some lemonade and let's get out our favorite writing pencils because we're about to start a fun creative writing workshop! This four day camp is meant to get learners excited about writing for fun and inspired to write for themselves as a creative outlet.

Day One: "Once upon a Summer..": Sensory Language and Story Writing/Fairy Tale Workshop
We will learn how to include some summer imagery and sensory language to improve our writing and then learners will be given a choice of three summer inspired writing prompts to write either their own short story or fairy tale.

Day Two: "Sincerely, Summer": Letters & Cards Workshop
We will learn about letter writing and card making and learners will create either a letter or card addressed to a family member, a friend, or someone else. Learners are encouraged to bring whatever art supplies, stickers, or colored paper they have to make this more fun!

Day Three: "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Concrete Poems are Just for You!": Poetry Workshop
Learners will be shown a few examples of concrete poems and learn how they can make their own. Then they will be given a choice of three summer inspired themes to choose from to form the basis for their own poem.

Day Four: "Summer Scenes!": Script Writing Workshop
We will learn the basics of writing a script and learners will write their very own scene! To make it more fun and challenging, I will give learners a choice of three random items or characters to include in their script. As time allows, we will act it out at the end!

I hope to inspire learners to find joy in writing by means of this creative workshop where there will be no grading or pressure given!

Because this is a private workshop, this can be tailored to fit your learner's preferences! For example, some students may enjoy a couple days working on one of the types of writing listed rather than spending a day on one that they don't enjoy as much. Also, if parents would like a day to be spent on another writing topic not listed, as a replacement to one of the other subjects, feel free to reach out to me and let me know.

This four day course can be taken either as a one-on-one class or with a friend.
While this camp is set to 1:1 by default, I can always open up another spot if your learner would like to take it with their friend(s). This can make class more fun for sure! Simply contact me for details if this interests you.

Don't see an available time that will work for your learner? Simply send me a message and we can try to make a tailored schedule!

Have a great winter break and happy writing!
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to spend time writing in a relaxed, stress-free zone, that is meant to be more about having fun with writing and getting creative juices flowing than worrying about "getting a good grade" which is typically associated with writing in school.

Supply List
Learners will need something to write on each day such as paper and a pencil. (Electronic devices are allowed too for learners who prefer typing.) For the day when we will be doing letter writing/card making, learners can use drawing paper, colored pencils or other materials for drawing if they'd like. They are also more than welcome to use things such as colored paper, washi tape, markers, stickers, etc.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have worked abroad helping teenagers to brainstorm and improve their essays. I currently enjoy blogging, writing stories, and helping elementary school students enjoy writing more. Last year I was asked twice to write and present a poem for special events. I have held several creative writing workshops over zoom for young people and enjoy creative writing as a personal hobby.
