This course is designed to help high school students who are going to take Calculus in the Fall or Spring or students who completed Precalculus but may have struggled. In this summer session, we will review essential algebraic concepts from Algebra and Geometry that will set students up for success in Calculus. I strongly recommend that students create a notebook specifically for this course that they can take with them and use as a reference in their next class. Class Structure: 10 minutes - Concept introduction through "Try It/What Do You Remember?" questions 30 minutes - Guided practice and note-taking 15 minutes - Independent practice Week 1: Day 1 - General Functions and Analyzing Behavior Day 2 - Piecewise Functions Week 2: Day 1 - Solving Quadratic, Radical, and Rational Equations Day 2 - Polynomial Expressions and Factoring Week 3: Day 1 - Operations with Rational Expressions Day 2 - Rational Functions and Asymptotes Week 4: Day 1 - Exponents and Logarithmic Functions Day 2 - Right Triangle Trigonometry Week 5: Day 1 - Trigonometric Identities and Equations Day 2 - Area, Volume, and Surface Area It is recommended that students taking this course have already taken either Algebra I or Algebra II before. Optional practice and solutions will be provided.

Parental Guidance
Material will be presented through Outschool Zoom using a screenshare of Google Slides, the Zoom whiteboard, and Desmos classroom activities. Accounts will not be required for any external tools.
Students who do not own a calculator can use the Desmos graphing calculator for free online without an account and I may screenshare the Desmos online graphing calculator to demonstrate graphing.
Supply List
I recommend students start a new, spiral bound notebook for this course that they can take with them into their future math classes. A calculator is recommended, but not required. Students who have a TI-84 will receive instruction specific to utilizing the tool. Students who do not have a TI-84 may use a free emulator (app) or Desmos online graphing calculator (free, no login required)

Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Arizona State University
I teach high school level math classes from Algebra I through Calculus and including Statistics, Trigonometry, and Geometry. I taught high school for 9 years and I now write online curriculum while teaching night classes at my local community college. I believe good instruction builds off of what students already know and think and should be personalized to student needs.
