US Grade 7 - 10
This course is designed to help high school students who are going to take Algebra II in the Fall or Spring or students who completed Algebra II but may have struggled. In this summer session, we will review essential algebraic concepts from Algebra I and Geometry that will set students up for success in Algebra II. I strongly recommend that students create a notebook specifically for this course that they can take with them and use as a reference in their next class. Class Structure: 10 minutes - Concept introduction through "Try It/What Do You Remember?" questions 30 minutes - Guided practice and note-taking 15 minutes - Independent practice Week 1: Day 1 - General Functions Day 2 - Linear Functions Week 2: Day 1 - Solving Equations Day 2 - Systems of Equations Week 3: Day 1 - Polynomial Expressions Day 2 - Advanced Factoring Techniques Week 4: Day 1 - Quadratic Equations Day 2 - Quadratic Functions Week 5: Day 1 - Exponential Functions Day 2 - Right Triangle Trigonometry It is recommended that students taking this course have already taken either Algebra I or Algebra II before. Optional practice and solutions will be provided.

Parental Guidance
Material will be presented through Outschool Zoom using a screenshare of Google Slides, the Zoom whiteboard, and Desmos classroom activities. Lagoon may be used for in class practice. Accounts will not be required for any external tools.
Students who do not own a calculator can use the Desmos graphing calculator for free online without an account and I may screenshare the Desmos online graphing calculator to demonstrate graphing.
Supply List
I recommend students start a new, spiral bound notebook for this course that they can take with them into their future math classes. A calculator is recommended, but not required. Students who have a TI-84 will receive instruction specific to utilizing the tool. Students who do not have a TI-84 may use a free emulator (app) or Desmos online graphing calculator (free, no login required)
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Teacher expertise and credentials
3 Degrees
Master's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arizona State University
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Arizona State University
I teach high school level math classes from Algebra I through Calculus and including Statistics, Trigonometry, and Geometry. I taught high school for 9 years and I now write online curriculum while teaching night classes at my local community college. I believe good instruction builds off of what students already know and think and should be personalized to student needs.
