Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
During each class, I will be reading a different picture book. Books will be age appropriate and class time will be engaging. Topics will vary from class to class, as a new book is read in each class. Students will be able to interact with one another and discuss the story, as they answer questions based on the story. This will also help students with their reading comprehension skills. Weekly topics will be more learner directed, but I will provide an idea of books that we will cover throughout the course.

1. Wed, Apr 12, 11:00 – 11:25 AM: "Charlie and Mouse" by Laurel Snyder
2. Fri, Apr 14, 10:00 – 10:25 AM: "Three Hens and a Peacock" by Lester L. Laminack
3. Mon, Apr 17, 7:00 – 7:25 AM: "Tikki, TIkki, Tembo" by Arlene Mosel
4. Wed, Apr 19, 11:00 – 11:25 AM: "Giraffe Meets Bird" by Rebecca Bender

More examples of the types of books that will be read include:
"Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!" by Mo Willems
"Days with Frog and Toad" by Arnold Lobel
"Scaredy Squirrel" Melanie Watt
"Amelia Bedelia by the Yard" by Herman Parish
"Henry and Mudge and the Happy Cat" by Cynthia Rylant

Reading to children has been proven to aid in their cognitive development, increase their vocabulary, boost their memory, and enhance their focus. This class will provide a relaxed, fun environment for students to work on these skills along with their peers. Reading should be enjoyable and that is what I aim for through this class.

Hello! My name is Tracy. From ESL to social clubs and creative writing, I offer many different classes that are fun and allow for learning without pressure and stress! Academic success has always been important to me. I was the valedictorian of my high school graduating class and I graduated from Grand Canyon University, cum laude. I have 16 years of teaching experience. I taught a private school before starting a family of my own. I have taught every subject, from ESL to math and physics! I’ve taught ages from 3 to 18 years old.
Learning is important, but it's difficult to learn when you are stressed, struggling, or overwhelmed. I strive to make my classes fun so learning is easy.
As a mother of five, I understand that every child is different and they each have a learning style that works best for them. Because I have homeschooled all five of my children since the beginning of their schooling, I have seen the different ways children learn and know the importance of making learning enjoyable . I adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of the student.
I look forward to our classtime!
