This is the perfect summer class to keep your little one sharp all summer along all the while having fun! This class helps avoid the dreaded summer slide : The summer slide is learning or reading skill losses during the summer months which are cumulative, creating a wider gap each year between more proficient and less proficient students. By taking 40 minutes out of their day, 4 times a week, this is prevented and it allows for a great structure even during the summer months! Every class, once we have gotten our wiggles out with our morning movement, we will go over calendar and weather. We will talk about how we are feeling as we dive in our thematic games which will help us review our daily concept through movement, music and fun! Weekly breakdown: Class 1 - LITERACY DAY (Mondays) :We will go over calendar and weather and then we will work on phonics! This could be letter sound review, digraphs and CVC word familie. Some weeks, Monday and Wednesday will be our Sight word days. Class 2 - NUMERACY DAY (Tuesday) : We will go over calendar and weather and then we will work on a math concept such as addition, subtraction, word problems, graphs etc... Math concepts change weekly! Class 3 LITERACY DAY (Wednesdays): We will go over calendar and weather and then we will continue working on the same concept as Monday, this is a reinforcement class. Others skills covered in phonics are ; counting syllables, sound blending, beginning sounds and ending sounds. Class 4 SOCIAL/SCIENCE (Thursdays) : We will go over calendar and weather and then we will work on learning about a specific theme each week. Please view a list of topics covered each week, below. *On weeks where a holiday falls on Monday, we may swap that class for Friday. THIS CLASS RUNS UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST before it resets for FALL! Daily Class Format: Intros/Warm-up (We get our wiggles out and move) Introduction of topic (letters, numbers, beginning sounds, story...etc) Movement break Application - We practice what we worked on earlier Show and tell - Socialization - Wrap-up/Goodbye More topics and themes will be added as needed per section.
