Class Experience

Summer Science Camp!
In this week-long Science Camp we will meet each day to learn about a new science concept, such as using solar ovens for cooking and identifying the layers of the Earth and their functions. As the students engage with each other and myself, we will build edible models or examples of the concepts learned that day! YUM! The learners will see slides, videos, and play games during the classes as well. My goal is to make science interesting and fun! Join me as we explore...

This class is taught in English.

Students will learn about various life and Earth science concepts while making edible models of their learning.

No homework will be given but supplies must be ready for the start of each class.

Day 1
Clear plastic cup
Chocolate and Butterscotch chips
Oreo cookies
Chocolate pudding
Vanilla pudding
Coconut flakes
Gummy worm (optional)
Plastic baggie
Spoon
Black Sharpie

Day 2
A pizza box (can be ordered on Amazon too or a craft store)
1 piece of black construction paper
Plastic wrap or a plastic page protector
Tape (masking tape, electrical tape, or duct tape, no clear)
Scissors or box cutter (adult assistance)
Aluminum foil
Something to prop open lid (a pencil, stick, etc...)
Graham crackers
Chocolate bar
Marshmallow 
Optional- coloring stuff

Day 3
15 large marshmallows
1 spice drop (or similar-sized candy)
1 Tbsp butter
2 cups Rice Krispy cereal
Bottle of chocolate SHELL (the stuff that hardens on ice cream, not sauce)
Large microwavable bowl
Large spoon or spatula
Microwave
Plate
Serrated knife and cutting board

Day 4
Package of Oreo cookies
White paper plate
Black marker
Butter knife (disposable is fine)

Day 5
Lemon Juice
Sugar
Water
Food Coloring (red, yellow, green, blue, purple)
Ice 
Glass, spoon, small pot and spatula, measuring cups and spoons

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Youtube

4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Parental assistance needed when using the microwave, stove, or knives.
