Learning to write a paragraph is critical because it forms the foundation for all writing skills. Knowing how to write a well-structured paragraph is essential in academic settings because it is a stepping stone for essays, research reports, and exams. This class will focus on paragraph writing essentials. Learners will compose 5 unique paragraphs over the course of one week. They will learn organization, how to develop their ideas effectively, how to provide examples, and so much more....
5 lessons//1 Week
Week 1Lesson 1Opinion ParagraphStudents will write a topic sentence, 3 supporting reasons, and a concluding sentence using the four square writing method. Students will learn how to effectively state reasons and give examples.Lesson 2Information ParagraphStudents will write a topic sentence, 3 supporting facts, and a concluding sentence using the four square writing method. Students will learn how to use transition words.Lesson 3Compare and Contrast ParagraphStudents will write a topic sentence, details that show similarity and difference, and a concluding sentence. Students will use a venn diagram to brainstorm ideas.Lesson 4Descriptive ParagraphStudents will write a topic sentence, 3 supporting facts, and a concluding sentence using the four square writing method. Students will practice adding descriptive details to their paragraph.Lesson 5Process ParagraphStudents will write a topic sentence, explain a process, and write a concluding sentence. Students will use a graphic organizer to map out their process paragraph / steps
- Learners will compose 5 different paragraphs during the week. They will learn how to write effective topic sentences, supporting details, and concluding sentences.
