Scratch Jr. Coding Games Summer Camp for Ages 5 - 8!
Build-A-Robot K12
Campers will learn Scratch Jr. and be introduced to coding concepts using motion, repeat, sound, and control blocks. They will create sprites, algorithmic sequences, and events to make their own playground games.

Kids will learn basic coding concepts and will have fun using their imaginations to play with and design their own playground games. This course combines learning and play in a brilliant way, so students have fun while learning 21st century skills like algorithmic sequencing and coding concepts like motion, repeat, sound, and control blocks. They will learn to work through problems with the support of social emotional learning and a focus on Purpose and Self-Management. Kids will get the chance to share their projects with their classmates and get feedback to help build a sense of community, even in a virtual world.
Kelley has been a Build a Robot instructor since its founding. Kelley grew up in Columbus, Indiana. She did her undergraduate and graduate work at Indiana University-Bloomington. Then she lived and worked in Indiana and Florida before moving to Colorado in 2010. Kelley is a Speech Language Pathologist at a K-8 school. She has been teaching robotics after school programs and STEM summer camps for three years. She loves helping students build their confidence in speaking and learning.
Learners will need to install Scratch Jr. (via the links provided depending on your device) prior to the first class. The instructor will be using Chrome to share with students, so this is the recommended extension if available to your learner. Parents will need to help learners with how to share their screen in Zoom and use the mute and start video buttons during our first class or prior to class to help each learner be successful.
