US Grade Kindergarten
In this fun interactive class students will learn the sight words from The Fry Sight Word list. Sight words are words that do not fit standard phonetic patterns and must be memorized. Students will also be learning high frequency words as well. High-frequency words are words that are most commonly found in written language. Once students learn to quickly recognize these words, reading comes more easily. Students will practice reading, tracing, writing, building, coloring and finding these words in text. This will be done in a fun interactive setting that includes hands on activities and games that will make learning fun. Each week will follow the same format of learning, practicing and playing games to learn the new words. Students will learn the sight words and high frequency words by sight instead of having to decode them to read.

Please bring provided printouts as well as crayons/colored pencils, children's scissors, glue stick and a pencil to class.

Hello! I’m Teacher Sheila.
I’ve been teaching both children and adults for over 20 years.
I have a Bachelors Degree in education, I’m TESOL certified and I’m homeschool certified as well.
I am currently teaching English online to children in China. I also offer classes in Common Core subjects Online in the US as well.
I have home schooled all five of my children, 4 have graduated 12th grade and I’m currently working with my last kid who will be starting High School this year.
I am so very passionate about teaching that I even spend much of my free time in volunteer work teaching others. My goal is to instill in my students a lifelong love of learning.
In fact I believe in learning so much that I am always involved continuing education myself, whether it be in foreign language, improving my teaching techniques and even weekly public speaking classes.
