This is a week-long writing camp for Pokemon fans! This class will meet four times in one week. Each day students complete a Pokemon-inspired writing activity. Together we will use the entire writing process (brainstorming, drafting, revision, and final writing) to complete fun Pokemon-inspired writing camp activities. In this week-long writing camp your learner will write four separate styles: ✏️Descriptive - Writing with details - Learning to use adjectives and stretch sentences. ✏️Sequential Writing- This type of expository is used to describe how to do or how to be a certain thing. ✏️Story Creation - A short-story writing activity that focuses on learning the literary parts of story. ✏️Comparison - Writing to share a position or examine two sides. Day One: Let's create! • What is your PokeName? Find out the name of your new character. • Design, create and write a descriptive paragraph & trading card (let's not forget an evolution or two) Day Two: Tell me more! • Guess the Emoji-Pokemon game. • How did you capture your new Pokemon? Write a social media post announcing its arrival. • Now you need a PokeBall - Create a unique one just for your character. Day Three: Battle it out! • Create a storyboard of the ultimate Pokémon battle. • Write and Epic-mini Battle Book - Create a mini-fold book from your ultimate battle storyboard (This writing project is started in class. Some learners may need to finish outside of class time) • Finishing up our prior writing projects (as needed) Day Four: Presentation day! • What's the type? - Write a persuasive paragraph, can you beat the teacher? • Share your Trading Card, Pokeball Paragraph and Storyboard/ Battle Scene Book/Exploded Paragraph • PokeTrivia* Pokemon-inspired Trivia Game Show *Note on Game Show: The instructor will serve as the moderator and game show host. Students will use the raise hand button to answer the trivia questions. The score will not be kept, everyone will have an opportunity to participate. Game Show is completed as time permits, our first priority with live class time is always completing our writing assignments. Enrollment Note: This class requires a minimum of three students. Please share your enrollment on social media and invite a friend to join you in Pokemon Writing Camp! 👉 The class schedule doesn't meet your needs? Learning Goals
Prior knowledge of paragraph writing is helpful, but not necessary, as these are skills we will be working on within our sessions. All effort will be made to go through the entire writing process for the day's prompt, however, if your student is unable to complete the assignment during our class time, please let me know via email. We can make arrangements for your student to send me their final writing through the Outschool portal.
