Class Experience
During each class, we will read one passage about animals and discuss it. The class will begin with a read of the article and then I will facilitate a discussion among the students. Students will learn through discussion and question prompts from me. We will also end each class playing a fun game asking questions about our reading. Questions will revolve around common core skills that all students should know. The skills that are taught in this course apply to all students even if they...
This class is taught in English.
** Students will find the main idea of an informational text. ** Students will determine key details that support the main idea. ** Students will explain how informational text features better help us understand the text. ** Students will determine the text structure of a text. ** Students will compare and contrast two texts to tell more about a subject.
3 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will use articles from NewsELA, Tweentribune, and Readworks. Teacher creates slideshows using materials from these resources as well.
