Class Experience

By popular demand, I'm now offering private, one on one summer camp sessions 2 days a week. These sessions will be fun, but educational. Here are some examples:
1. If your child needs extra help with reading comprehension, we may go on a nature walk, explore things we see, and then summarize everything we did or saw in class. This example didn't involve reading, but it does involve the student summarizing what we just saw on our walk, which is comprehension.

2. If your children is struggling with handwriting, we may go outside and use sidewalk chalk (age doesn't matter), to write with chalk. Who doesn't love sidewalk chalk?

3. For older students, who may need extra help or interested in a particular topic, we may play educational games like Jeopardy, Connect Four, I spy, etc.

As a homeschool mom, and a teacher, I have experience in many subjects and how to teach them. I'm able to tailor my sessions to meet the learner's needs.

If you don't see any scheduled classes that work with your schedule, send me a message and I'll be happy to try and accommodate.

These ongoing sessions are as needed, and will assist learners with any topic they need extra help with or subjects they wish to learn about. One on one summer camp gives the learner my undivided attention and to adjust to their ability but through fun activities and games.

I will help learners with any subject area such as:
- Writing
-Letters
-Numbers
-Phonics
-Writing their name
-Any Language Arts
-Reading
- Reading Comprehension
- Writing
-Lifeskills
-Or special requests

Some learners may prefer to learn in a one on one setting verses a classroom style setting. So, this is the course for them. The learner will inform me what they wish to learn (phonics, adding, subtracting, multiplication, name writing, reading comprehension, etc.). I can design one lesson or multiple lessons to teach or help the learner.

Some learners may be struggling with a subject, and need one on one so the teacher can relate to the learner and his/her needs. So, this is the course for them.

This class does require teacher/parent communication about the learner, so I can tailor each session to fit the learner's needs. Once I get information from parents about the learner, I will construct a session based on the child's learning style and needs. Each child learns differently, so I can teach in a way that best helps the learner. This is an ongoing session, which means you can subscribe and unsubscribe at any time.

I will begin each session with a greeting. Children love to talk and tell me all about things. I always try to do this in the beginning of all of my classes. This lets them know they are special, and I want to hear all about what's going on with them. Then, we will dive into our lesson for the day. Since this is one on one, it will be very interactive. Finally, we will close with a review and goodbye.

Feel free to message me for special class time lengths, days, etc.

Bachelor's Degree from Middle TN State University
Hello. I have been teaching for over 20 years. I have experience teaching children from pre-k through 10th grade. I have a Bachelors Degree in Child Development and Family Studies, and a minor in Education. I have been married for 18 years. My husband and I have 3 children ages 15, 13, and 11. I currently homeschool our children, and have since my oldest started Kindergarten. I teach various classes and subjects at our local homeschool tutorial.

Since I homeschool our children, I have experience in all subject areas and learning styles. It's so important for teachers to teach subjects to all learning styles, not just one. In my classes, I use various tools and techniques to accomplish this task.

I teach various classes such as English, Phonics, Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, Social Studies, cooking, crafts, sing and learn, and much more. I look forward to having your child in class.

Just a little personal information: On June 1st, 2022 I had a kidney transplant and my amazing husband was my donor. During the summer of 2022, I have my schedule posted, but please bare with me as I navigate through many appointments. I feel better than I have felt in years. So I'm so excited to get back in the classroom. I just want my lovely students and their families to know my situation and I'm thrilled to share my story when appropriate. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks for thinking of me.
