Students will gain insight into group research, writing a position paper, public speaking, debating, understanding Pandemics in World History, and government process (Robert's Rule to Order). Students will also gain an understanding of Model UN in a creative way. The term of Zombie describes a mysterious pandemic - like COVID-19 - this topic is not violent. We are using the pandemic of history in order for students in their groups to create action plans to solve the pandemic (not repeat history) and learn debate, congress, and public speaking skills in a Model UN format.
I have 16 years as an educator and five as an educational leader. The majority of my teaching experience has been in the history, government, and social studies. I have performed this lesson as a final in several of my classes. This lesson was used in my seminar (honors) world history and world literature class. We examine the history of pandemics and how different civilizations attempted to solve the pandemic. We will be able to use some current events and be extremely sensitive as the COVID-19 has impacted many of us.
