Summer Camp Math: Preparing for Geometry
Is your learner prepared to enter Geometry? During this class, learners will have a review of key Algebra 1 topics and an introduction to some upcoming geometry topics. (Students should have successfully completed Algebra 1.) Join any week.
What's included
12 live meetings
10 in-class hoursHomework
1 hour per week. After each class, practice exercises completed in class will be posted in the Outschool classroom. Learners will also receive a practice worksheet. Learners should complete the practice exercises from each worksheet. A worksheet answer key will also be provided. This is a great way for learners and parents to check for understanding.Class Experience

Intermediate Level
Is your learner prepared to enter Geometry? As a person who struggled with math as a student, I can empathize with and relate to students as they try to learn new and difficult concepts. I display patience with the learners, give them time to respond, and offer encouragement for their efforts. In this ongoing class, students will meet twice a week to review key Algebra 1 topics and introduce some upcoming geometry topics. Some topics include solving linear equations, solving quadratic equations, finding the measure of missing angles in a diagram (including algebra), and using the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance between two points. During each class, the new lesson will then be introduced. I will complete practice problems with the learners. Students are encouraged to ask questions in class. I will make every effort to involve all students in class participation. As appropriate, I incorporate review material into the lessons to further solidify the math concepts to the learners. After each class, practice exercises completed in class will be posted in the Outschool classroom. Learners will also receive a practice worksheet. Learners should complete the practice exercises from each worksheet. A worksheet answer key will also be provided. This is a great way for learners and parents to check for understanding. Students should have successfully completed Algebra 1. Come prepared to listen and learn. I monitor learners' understanding (usually through facial expressions). Open cameras also allow learners to interact and experience a class environment. Students may join the class any week. (See class syllabus for weekly topics.) This class meets twice a week for 6 weeks. (Each summer session is identical.)
