Does your learner need to master Pre-Algebra concepts before taking Algebra 1? As a person who struggled with math as a student, I can empathize with and relate to students as they try to learn new and difficult concepts. I display patience with the learners, give them time to respond, and offer encouragement for their efforts. In this ongoing class, students will meet twice a week to review and practice some core Pre-Algebra topics. Some topics include evaluating algebraic expressions, exponents, distributive property and two-step equations. During each class, the new lesson will then be introduced. I will complete practice problems with the learners. Students are encouraged to ask questions in class. I will make every effort to involve all students in class participation. As appropriate, I incorporate review material into the lessons to further solidify the math concepts to the learners. Students should be familiar with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. Come prepared to listen and learn. I monitor learners' understanding (usually through facial expressions). Open cameras also allow learners to interact and experience a class environment. Students may join the class any week. (See weekly topics listed below.) This class meets twice a week for 5 weeks. (Each summer session is identical.)
