Your 8-week summer algebra readiness camp is designed to build foundational algebra skills learned in 8th grade with a focus on problem-solving and growth mindset.

Join our 8-week Summer Math 8 Camp, where we’ll review the most important 8th grade topics in a fun, supportive environment!

Explore the difference between rational and irrational numbers through real-life contexts like money, temperature, and elevation. Students will learn how to recognize equivalent expressions, perform operations with rational numbers, and solve practical problems that highlight the importance of number sense in everyday situations.

Rational/Irrational Numbers and Operations

Students will review and apply all key exponent rules—product, quotient, power of a power, zero, and negative exponents—through guided practice and problem solving. They'll work with expressions that require using multiple rules at once, reinforcing their understanding of exponents and the order of operations.

Exponent Rules

Students will identify and compare proportional and non-proportional relationships using tables, graphs, and word problems. They'll learn how to recognize key features—like constant rate of change and y-intercepts—to distinguish between different types of linear relationships.

Slope Review Part 2

Students will be introduced to linear equations and build confidence solving one- and two-step equations. Through guided practice and real-world examples, they'll develop foundational algebra skills that are essential for success in more complex problem solving.

Function or Not a Function?

Students will learn how to solve systems of equations using substitution and graphing methods. They’ll practice substituting values to find solutions and graphing equations to visually identify where the lines intersect, strengthening their problem-solving skills.

Systems of Equations Part 2

Students will apply the Pythagorean Theorem to solve real-world problems, such as finding distances, heights, and lengths in various contexts. They’ll practice using the theorem to analyze and solve practical scenarios, reinforcing its relevance beyond the classroom.

Pythagorean Theorem in the Real World

Students will be introduced to bivariate data, learning how to represent and interpret data involving two variables. They’ll practice creating and analyzing scatter plots, exploring the relationship between two sets of data, and identifying patterns or trends.
