US Grade 3 - 6
This is a fun class that will help children learn the eight parts of speech while diagraming sentences. This will teach your students to diagram basic sentences (intro to diagraming). We will begin the class by listening watching) songs that will help us learn the definition. We will then look at sentences and find that part of speech in the sentence. Finally, we will learn to diagram that part of speech. The material will be presented on slides. The sentences will be shown on their screen. Then the students will answer on their whiteboards and show that to me. Here is what we will be learning about - 1. Subjects and Predicates - identify simple subjects and predicates. 2. Pronouns/Nouns and Verbs - learn the definition of pronouns, nouns, and verbs and then learn how to diagram just the main noun and verb. 3. Direct Object vs Predicate Nouns - learn how to identify direct objects and predicate nouns and diagram them. 4. Adjectives and Articles 5. Adverbs 6. Prepositions 7. Conjunctions 8. Review The children will be asked to participate by writing their answers on a whiteboard. A practice sheet with an answer key will be provided. But this is an optional assignment.

Hi, I'm Rachel Capes! 🌟
I have an Early Childhood Degree and a Master's in Literacy. I spent 12 amazing years teaching 4th and 5th graders, and Kindergarten SPED in public schools. I even got to be a math and literacy coach!
Now, I homeschool my four wonderful kids. One is gifted, two are right where they should be, and one has a learning disability. This time at home has given me a deeper understanding of all learning styles.
I believe learning should be hands-on and fun! Kids should be excited about math and reading.
In math, we use manipulatives, drawing, and algorithms to make learning engaging. When we meet more than once, kids get to share how they solved problems and explain their thinking.
In reading, we dive into books, discuss vocabulary, explore literary elements, analyze characters and plots, and make predictions. Everyone gets to share their thoughts and opinions while respecting others'.
I love to read, be outdoors with my kids, and this year we're learning to garden together. 🌱
I also teach World History and Geography at an accredited homeschool group.
Let's make learning an adventure! 🎉📚✨
