Summer Camp: Introduction to Scratch Programming

Beginner Level
- NO prior coding knowledge required. - This class will be broken down into following sections: . first 10 min of the class will spend on warm up/ entry task . next we will be learning a new concept and then will be doing a hands on practice. . there will be question solving - and final 10min will be an exit task (basically revising on what we did during the class) and wind up. - Tools used for this class will be scratch.mit.edu website. - Students will be learning 1. 5 lessons//1 Week
Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to scratchThis lesson will introduce scratch and scratch screen, sprites and backdrops. We will also get familiarized with the block palette. We will start working on the full weeks project to build a "clicker game".Lesson 2Gliding and moving spritesWith this lesson we will understand different motion blocks to move the sprites.Lesson 3Animating a spriteWe will create a mini project on how to introduce animations to sprites for example how to change costumes and backdrops and more.Lesson 4Adding effects and sound along with a project on making the sprite talkWe will work on a project of Chatting-Sprite exploring the sound block.Lesson 5Final day: Projects completion day and demo dayStudents will work on finishing there projects and work on the demo project. Parents will be invited for the last half an hour of the class for demonstration of students work.
- This course will enable the student on how to apply there logical thinking to creating smaller stories/projects/games. With every class the student will keeping learning the flow of programming.
I have been teaching Scratch to students from past few years now and this is the most interesting way of getting introduced to the coding.
