Optional homework will be included with each lesson. This homework will provide students with an opportunity to reinforce the skills and concepts covered in class, and to practice applying these skills independently.

Class Description:

Summer Camp: Get Ready for 1st Grade! is designed to help incoming first-grade students prepare for their academic journey. This workshop is perfect for children who have completed kindergarten and are eager to learn new skills and gain knowledge that will help them excel in first grade.

The children will be introduced to various subjects such as math, reading, writing, and science through a series of fun-filled activities. The activities will enhance the children's creativity, critical thinking, and social skills.

During the camp, the children will engage in hands-on activities, games, and group exercises that will stimulate their minds and encourage them to think independently. 

In this class, children will learn:

Math: Basic addition and subtraction, counting, and number recognition
Reading: Phonics, sight words, and basic comprehension
Writing: Tracing letters and basic writing skills
Science: Basic concepts like plants, animals, and the environment
Social Skills: Interacting with peers, sharing, and taking turns

This Summer Camp is a great way to prepare your child for the academic challenges of first grade. By the end of the camp, your child will be ready to take on the new school year with confidence and enthusiasm.

Weekly Breakdown:

Week 1:
Tuesday, July 11th: Math - Counting and Number Recognition
Thursday, July 13th: Writing - Tracing letters and basic writing skills, Science - Plants and Animals

Week 2:
Tuesday, July 18th: Math - Basic Addition and Subtraction, Reading - Sight Words and Basic Comprehension
Thursday, July 20th: Writing - Writing Simple Sentences, Science - The Environment

Week 3:
Tuesday, July 25th: Math - Measurement and Time, Reading - Phonics
Thursday, July 27th: Writing - Writing about Personal Experiences, Social Skills - Interacting with Peers

Week 4:
Tuesday, August 1st: Math - Shapes and Patterns, Reading - Story Elements
Thursday, August 3rd: Writing - Descriptive Writing, Science - The Five Senses

Note: Each day's activities will be tailored to the needs and abilities of the students, and teachers may adjust the curriculum as necessary.

For most classes, paper and pencil will be sufficient. A list of materials needed for projects will be provided upon enrollment.
