ATTENTION: Young writers often struggle to express written idea's clearly, writing can lack structure and clarity. In this weekly ongoing course learners will navigate how to craft, style and develop their own unique view on varied different topics. This course is suitable for reluctant learners, or emerging writers that need a fun safe place to develop their own sense and style of writing. Learners will need to be able to write short sentences independently, but I will provide assistance for learners that need a patient teacher to help them develop, edit and plan their idea's. Learners will know how to introduce their topic, produce different perspectives, before concluding their final thoughts in a conclusion. This course will teach learners how to, develop idea's, use essential words, add linking works, as well as editing one's own work. What your learner can expect in the lesson? - A fun topical, engaging conversational part lecture led, but student led learning to develop writing expression. - We will cover a different grammar point each lesson. - Selecting different, more expressive vocabulary. - Understanding the different features of each piece of writing. - Thinking about the audience that we are writing to. - Understanding how the mood and tone of writing belongs to it's different writing purpose. - Distinguishing between fact, opinion and how to use it when writing. - Figurative language, and how it creates imagery, using personification, similes, metaphors, adverbial phrases, and so on. - Model answers. - Question and answer sessions to aid the creation for writing. - Writing prompts, and encouragement to take risks in writing. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and thank you for stopping by to find out a little more about me, although I am more interested in you! I am from London and live in Buckinghamshire in a rural countryside setting. I love the peace and tranquillity of nature and the outdoors.
I have always had a passion for English, ever since I was a little girl and a fantastic teacher inspired me to read and imagine that anything was possible. Fast forward many years, that dream of becoming an English teacher turned into reality for that little girl that spent hours reading and imagining different worlds.
I graduated from Birkbeck University in London, having taken a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature. I studied everything from Shakespeare through to early 18th Century American Literature. I literally found my calling, I then went to achieve my PGCE equivalent Cert Ed in Education, where I qualified to teach young people aged 14+. In addition to this, I have been a private tutor for children ages 7+ for nearly a decade.
I love working across all age groups, as my approach to learning is both flexible and creative.
The most rewarding thing about my work, is my ability to connect with young people that do not believe in themselves. Teaching English, whether coaching to pass exams, or simply to improve written work or read for meaning, or to develop a hunger for exploring texts, is seeing ‘the moment’, the young person connects with what they are trying to achieve.
So, when I am not teaching, I love to walk my 2 dogs, cook or binge watch TV on Netflix.
If there is not something I offer, please just ask, and I will happily VA VA VOOM it up for you.
