US Grade 3 - 4
Students will become familiar with poetry - its elements and its form. Each class will begin with a short YouTube video, followed up by discussion, then time to write and finally time to share. Day 1: Introduction to Poetry. What is poetry? What is are the elements of poems? Day 2: Borrowing Poetry How do you use other poems to create poems? Day 3: Styles of Poetry What is a haiku? Students will learn about different styles of poetry. Students will practice reading and writing skills. Students will create a poem to share with the class.
Homework Offered
Students can polish the poems off and send them for feedback if they desire but it is not a requirement.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed by their effort and the use of the skills in thier poems. Students can submit work to the teacher for more intensive feedback.Grades Offered
