In this fun and interactive 4-day summer camp, students will learn how to design like a pro using Canva— a kid-friendly graphic design tool used by YouTubers, entrepreneurs, and influencers around the world. From eye-catching YouTube thumbnails to hilarious memes and posters, this camp is packed with creativity, hands-on projects, games, and time to make new friends! Each day, students will learn new design tools, play creative games, and work on exciting projects they’ll be proud to share. Students will be able to navigate Canva’s design interface and use basic tools such as templates, text, elements, and images to create original designs.Students will be able to apply fundamental design principles—including color, contrast, alignment, and hierarchy—to create visually appealing graphics.

💡 Day 1 – Canva Kickoff: Explore & Create!
Students will explore Canva tools and design a digital name tag or avatar while playing design scavenger hunt games and sharing their style. 60 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
🖼️ Day 2 – Poster Power: Make It Pop!
Campers will learn how fonts, layout, and color choices make a design stand out while creating motivational or event-style posters. 60 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
😂 Day 3 – Meme Magic & Animation Fun
Students will design their own meme or animated birthday card using stickers, gifs, and captions that make people smile! 60 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
🎬 Day 4 – Thumbnail Throwdown & Design Showcase
Students will apply everything they’ve learned to create a YouTube thumbnail for a topic they love — then present their final work in a mini design showcase! 60 mins online live lesson

To get the most out of this camp, students will need the following: ✅ A free Canva account (set up before the first day of class) 👉 Visit www.canva.com to create a free account. Canva requires users to be at least 13 years old, so we recommend a parent or guardian help set up the account using a family email if needed. ✅ A computer, Chromebook, or tablet with internet access ✅ A working mouse or trackpad ✅ Optional: Headphones for better audio during class

I specialize in teaching English, speech, and digital media, and I’ve taught graphic design and content creation to students of all ages, both in-person and online.
I’m also a social media coordinator and Canva enthusiast! I use Canva daily to create everything from YouTube thumbnails and social media graphics to posters and classroom materials — and I love showing students how they can use these same tools to bring their ideas to life.
