US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
During this multi-day camping class, students will have fun participating in some interactive camping activities together. Students will practice their fluency with a poem, listening and reading comprehension skills, and have some hands-on STEM projects to work on to help us learn more about camping and constellations! Students are welcome to join us from inside a tent or fort if they choose to make the experience more like "real camping." They can bring a flashlight along for some fun too! (tents/forts and flashlights are not required for class) We will begin by discussing what we know and like about camping. If your child doesn't have any prior experience or knowledge of camping, it's perfectly fine! We will all learn more information together in class! Here is what we will do in our classes together: Class 1-We will have an introduction of ourselves. Then students will listen to a story and we will practice our reading comprehension skills by discussing it as we go along. Then we will sing a camping song together. Finally, we will learn about constellations and create one together using materials listed below. (Different than from the one-time camping class) Class 2-We will practice our fluency by singing our camping song again. Then we will learn about a different constellation and make it together. Finally, we will talk about how to use details when giving directions to someone. Kids will practice by making a tasty camping treat that we will enjoy together! (see materials listed below). We will also play a game together! Class 3-We will sing our camping song together. Then we will create a camping story together by using our creative story-telling skills. Then we will build a tent using common household items. Class 4-Students will finish building a tent (as needed) from class 3. We will sing our song again together. Finally, we will play camping Bingo. ***(Students will use another device to play Bingo on. Students will be sent a link prior to class with their own unique Bingo card.) *If you are interested in this class and the times don't work for you, please request a time that works with your schedule. I am happy to try and accommodate schedules! Thank you!* I hope to see you on our camping adventure soon!
