Students will practice creating small, achievable writing pieces each week that build writing confidence. Students will receive easy to follow graphic organizers and receive positive and specific feedback for their writing.

Does your writer have trouble coming up with a topic to write about? Do they often get frustrated with what to write once they come up with a topic? Or maybe your student enjoys writing little stories and you are looking to diversify their writing genre knowledge! This is the summer camp for you! This camp focuses on introducing 3 different writing genres by writing a short story or writing piece each day. The genres covered in this summer camp will be Personal Narratives, Opinion Writing, and Informational Writing. Using graphic organizers and choice with writing will give students clear expectations and allow them to feel ownership and confidence in their writing. The teacher will offer specific and positive feedback throughout the class. Class Schedule: Day 1: Personal Narrative Day 2: Opinion Writing Day 3: Informational Writing Class Structure: 10 minutes: Introducing the writing genre 10 minutes: Brainstorming/Graphic Organizer 20 minutes: Writing Rough Draft How can my student receive feedback? Students may not finish their rough draft in class. I encourage all students to finish their rough draft and send it to me through Outschool! I will respond with positive and constructive feedback to help your learner improve! I am a certified Reading Specialist and have 6 years experience teaching 3rd grade. It is a passion of mine to help encourage and motivate students to succeed in writing. I hope to see your learner in a class soon!
