Class Experience
In this 4 days camp young students will listen to the stories and explore how 4 great artists used nature as an inspiration for their masterpieces. While following the stories, students will discuss paintings by Monet, Rousseau, and architecture by Gaudi. In the second portion of the class, kids will create open-ended crafts influenced by nature and art they've been exposed to earlier. Day 1: Visiting Monet's Garden. Students will get familiarized with famous artworks and architecture. They will learn a few facts about each presented artist. Students will be encouraged to use their imagination while discussing art and while working on crafts.
Supply List for Camp Day 1: Visiting Monet’s Garden • Cardboard sheet (could be from cereal box) about 7x9 inches • Blue and Green construction paper • Napkin OR Tissue Paper (preferably in one of the following colors: white, blue, pink or yellow) • Glue • Small scissors • Scotch tape • Markers Day 2: Travelling to Rousseau’s Jungles • Shoe box WITHOUT LID OR TOP (please cut it off if attached) • Playdough (preferably Red and Yellow) • Wide blades of grass • Multiple leaves in oval shape • Glue (NOT a glue stick!) • Crayons or pencils • Scotch tape Day 3: Discovering Nature in Gaudi’s Buildings • Small carton box, like tea box or box from cosmetics (approximately 5-6 inches high) • Construction paper • Aluminum foil or parchment paper (about 10 X 10 inches) • Paper towel tube or 2 toilet paper tubes • Scraps of colorful paper (wrapping paper or any other type) • Lunch paper bag (optional) • Markers • Scissors • Scotch tape • Glue
2 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
For the craft portion of the class, parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8).
