US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner - Advanced Level
This class focuses on Molly of Denali, a PBS Kids show about Native Alaskans and their culture. Students will learn more about Alaska. A map of Alaska will be provided for students to label and color. Children will share what their favorite episodes are or favorite books about Molly. Each session will end with time for students to ask questions about Alaska and the Indigenous people who live here. Week 1: Where is the village of Qyah? What are the geographic features of the area? Week 2:...
- - Learners will participate in a discussion about Native cultures in Alaska. - Learners will be able to color a map of Alaska and label 4 cities and towns in the map. - Learners will be able to say two new things they learned about Alaska. - Learners will be able to describe the habitats and ecosystems of wild animals in Alaska.
I live in Alaska, and have studied Alaska history and Alaska Native cultures. I have a college degree in history and I am currently enrolled in an PhD program in Indigenous Studies with the University of Alaska.
