Summer Camp: ACT Essay Workshop! Write Sample ACT Essays with a Former Scorer.

This course will prepare learners for the essay portion of the ACT. It will prepare learners to be more effective writers. They will learn guidelines to writing an expository essay. They will receive instruction on how standardized tests generally score essays and furthermore, principles to writing an accomplished essay. I have experience as an ACT essay scorer. I understand the criteria by which ACT essays are scored. I am able to give relevant criticism to help learners earn a better ACT essay score. Overall, I hope that my guidance leads to a better understanding of general writing principles in addition to doing well on the ACT essay.
Homework Offered
There is one essay assignment at the start of class and another essay assignment at the end of class. There's also some recommended reading. It's expected that there will be about 40 minutes to an hour of homework each week.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class

Learner's progress will be assessed by the essay assignments at the beginning and end of class.Grades Offered
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will be provided with sample writing prompts and essays. Students are not required to purchase materials, though I recommend that students read "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation" by Lynne Truss.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
