This weekly tutoring class will focus on foundational skills to improve reading confidence and ability. I strive to build a growth mindset with my students regarding reading. We will discuss setting goals and we will celebrate often! I want them to understand that reading is a skill that can be practiced and improved. I offer a quick assessment of both nonsense words (decoding) and sight words in order to have baseline data. We will practice skills to improve those two measures at each weekly meeting. I will complete check-in assessments every other week or as requested by the parent. I offer rich data to show growth in research based measures. Weekly Class Outline: *Welcome/check-in with student *Quick Game/Brain Teaser (Would You Rather, Riddle, Joke, Doodle War) *Nonsense Word Fluency practice (timed reading from slides) *Sight Word practice (slides, phrasing, flashcards, game) *Practice reading a decodable story *Wrap Up These tutoring sessions can be individualized to meet the learner's needs.

Learners will improve confidence and foundational reading skills with individualized tutoring.
