Class Experience

US Grade 2
Welcome to my Summer Bridge Math Program designed specifically for students who will be entering 2nd grade! This program has been created to help students review and reinforce essential math skills, ensuring they are prepared for the upcoming school year.

During the month of July, students will engage in a fun, interactive, and engaging learning experience, helping them build their confidence in math while also having a blast. Our goal is to make learning enjoyable and effective, setting students up for success both academically and in their personal lives. I can't wait to get started!

We love to make classes engaging with strategies, games, competitions, and more to check for understanding. Students will participate in discussions and work on problems both together and independently.

Week 1:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.A.1: Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions.

Week 2:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.NBT.A.1: Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones.

Week 3:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.G.A.1: Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.

Week 4:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.MD.C.8: Solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately.

Week 5:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.MD.D.10: Draw a picture graph and a bar graph (with single-unit scale) to represent a data set with up to four categories.

We love to teach classes where students are engaged and learn through having fun. We have been educators for more than 20 years.

Teaching is our first love and we are excited to share our energy and passion for learning with our students and the hope that they will also match our energy level. More importantly, we hope that our students will fall in love with learning.

We believe that every child has the ability to learn and we are so excited to work with amazing children across the world.
