Description
Class Experience
This class will address some of the many issues I have dealt with in math deficiencies over my years of teaching. I will reteach six of the most common areas that our students come to Jr and/or Senior High School not knowing. These areas include: - Multiplication: In this section I will test the student knowledge of multiplication and set their course of study according to their pretest results. I feel that students should have to score a 75% mastery level before moving on. - Division: ...
Student will learn to apply the math skills they are taught (fractions, multiplication, division, simple equations and written problems) to a mastery level of 75% by the end of week 6.
I believe I am qualified to teach this class since I have taught these same skills in a high school setting for the past 6 years. This remediation is not tied to a given grade level, it is whoever needs the class. My goal is to teach students the math facts they need in order to master higher-level courses. It has been my experience that a full understanding of the above six areas will help to accomplish just that.
Each week you child will be provided a digital copy of a worksheet that will be due the next day be.
All assignments and class material will be provided to your student via email or google docs. I will create each assignment as well as class materials. Thank you for your interest in my class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The assessment for these classes will given on a bi-weekly feedback email, with the final assessment given in a letter grade shortly after the last class.
5 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
When a student fails to master one area it can affect their whole high school career. Most students who have issues with a subject try to mask the problem, thinking it will just affect that one class. When in reality it can affect every math related course they take. Not addressing the skills they are lacking will just build up to bigger problems as the student progresses. If the student is constantly trying to catch up on previous lessons, they tend to fall behind in the current class.
All material will be provided in a digital form.
