Through completing class activities, students will practice reading comprehension skills, identifying plot events, describing characters, determining problems, defining vocabulary words, and recognizing themes in books. Students will improve their reading comprehension skills by answering questions and participating in discussions. Students will gain knowledge of new vocabulary words by completing a graphic organizer and participating in discussions. Students will learn/review plot elements (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) by participating in discussions.
A certified Teacher of English (K-12) and Reading Specialist (P-12) with over ten years of teaching experience with students in grades 6-12.
Homework Offered
Students will read, answer reading comprehension questions and define vocabulary words.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Each class students will play Blooket to check reading comprehension. Instructor will reach out if scores are below 70%.Grades Offered

Reading comprehension questions and vocabulary keys are provided after each class. Pre-reading videos are available for each reading assignment. Message instructor for specialized accommodations :)
