In this multi-day course, we will read Magic Tree House #1: Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Pope Osborne. We will discuss what we liked, disliked, the characters we relate to, predictions for the upcoming chapters, & more! This class is meant to be a fun, socializing class for students that get them excited about reading. We will practice comprehension as well as we dive into our thoughts about the chapters that we read. Classes will have an optional writing/drawing prompt to get students to think further into what they have read so far. This class will meet for 4 weeks for 25 minutes each session. Week 1: Chapters 1-3. Read and think about what you like, dislike, and characters you relate to. Get ready to share! Optional writing/drawing homework. Week 2: Chapters 4-6. Read and think about what you like, dislike, and characters you relate to. Get ready to share! Optional writing/drawing homework. Week 3: Chapters 7-8. Read and think about what you like, dislike, and characters you relate to. Get ready to share! Optional writing/drawing homework. Week 4: Chapters 9-10. Hello! My name is Kodi Murphree. I am a certified teacher for PreK through 4th grade with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. I LOVE to teach elementary students Phonics and beginning reading skills, math skills, art skills, and more. I love to encourage them and motivate them to be their best!
I love to get to know students before I begin each lesson. I have made Outschool my full time career in teaching! It has been so fun to see students multiple times throughout my classes. I have been able to watch them grow, learn, and become the best version of themselves. I am dedicated to continue to reach the lives of the students that I meet through Outschool.
My philosophy for teaching is that all students can learn! I am able to differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of all students, giving them the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways. My goal is to make my lessons engaging and fun, while also allowing each student to have the opportunity to succeed.
As said before, I have a Master of Arts in Teaching degree for Elementary Education. I have 8 years of teaching experience in grades PreK through 4 in the public school classroom setting. I have also obtained a STEM endorsement and a TESOL certification along the way! My STEM endorsement helps me to incorporate hands-on learning and experiments throughout my lessons and my TESOL endorsement helps support children from all backgrounds. I am passionate to help all students succeed, especially in the early learning years. Teaching beginning reading, art skills, and math skills is what I love the most. It is so fun to help encourage students at the start of their educational journey.
When I am not teaching, I am a mom! My family is growing and I adore them. My husband and I enjoy staying active and traveling with our kids. I enjoy reading new books and visiting new places.
