Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In this fun Winter Book Club Camp, students will read and discuss the chapter book "The Mystery in Venice" from the Geronimo Stilton series. The story is about a silly mouse who goes on an adventure with his friends. There is no need to purchase the book, as the entire story will be provided and covered during the class time. The chapter book is about a Grade 2-4 reading level.

In the class, students will have the opportunity to read portions of the story, as well as listen to teacher-modelled reading. Other reading techniques may be employed, including choral reading, echo reading, and reader's theatre. These methods help students to improve their confidence, fluency, accuracy and expression while reading texts aloud.

We will also use reading comprehension strategies to discuss the story. Students will have opportunities to ask questions, learn new vocabulary, make predictions and make connections to their own life and the world around them.

Hello! My name is Matt and I live in Ontario Canada. I love teaching and have been teaching and helping people learn for over 10 years. I have also worked as an online ESL teacher for 3 years teaching English, Science and Social Studies to children aged 3 to 18 years old.
One of my greatest passions is travel and seeing other countries! I have been to places in North and South America, Europe and Asia and I have learned so much about other cultures and parts of the world along the way. I also love studying maps, geography, weather and climates.
In my classes, I want to share with students my knowledge and the experience that I have from teaching and traveling. My aim is to help my students to learn new things and to see how knowledge can help to improve their lives and give them a brighter future.
I hope I can be your teacher and I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you in my class!
