Class Experience

Do you love flowers 🌸 and painting 🎨? Do you enjoy the calm and peace of creativity in your day? ☀️ This weekly class is intended to celebrate the joys of painting flowers and foster a creative learning environment that encourages young artists to take a break from their busy day, slow down, enjoy each brushstroke, and appreciate each blossom. Each week we will focus on different flowers. Join in for one class of the whole summer series.

Class structure:
🕊Warm-up with flower breathing to center ourselves for the creative process

🌼Find out_ Fun Flower Facts_ Learn at least two types of flowers, some fun facts, and techniques to draw them with a focus on shape, line, and pattern. (BYOB_Bring your own Bloom) If you have a favorite flower from your garden, from a photo or bouquet of flowers from your home please feel free to bring those too.

🎨Create_ Our creative process will unfold with some light sketching with a pen or pencil, followed by watercolor painting. This studio time will provide a chance for these young artists to paint their flowers and ask questions as needed while developing their personal style of painting and drawing.

🗣Develop Self-Confidence _We will close our class, encouraging our young artists to share their paintings with others in the class. This time will offer students an opportunity to develop their own self-expression and public speaking skills.

🙌🏽Share_ Share your flowers with friends, family, or a loved one for all to see. There is nothing more special than the gift of art.

* It's my philosophy that "everyone is an artist". No prior experience is necessary for painting flowers. Just bring a growth mindset, a positive attitude, and a willingness to try your best.

* Don't see a time that works for you- Please message me and I would be happy to try to arrange something that works.

Learning Goals

Welcome! 🙌🏼

I am so excited about the possibility of you joining me on your next learning adventure! Truly one of my joys in teaching is connecting with so many students from all over the world!

Ever since I was a young girl I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I have been in the field of education for over 25 years. I have worked with students ages 5 through 18 all over the world. I am fluent in the French language and taught in all types of schools from international, public, private, charter, and dual immersion. I hold an elementary K-8 teaching certification and a master's degree in education with a focus on teaching through the arts.

The arts, music, drama, storytelling, and visual arts, are integrated throughout my lessons and are used as a vehicle to teach core subjects such as English, history, math, ESL or French language. This diverse approach allows for many different learning styles to be embraced and enhances comprehension. In addition to core subjects, I offer classes in the arts to a variety of ages and levels.

Here are a few of the classes offered:
•	Art Classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital photography and design for all ages
•	Paragraph and essay writing for middle school (4-6th grade) narrative, argumentative and informative writing
•	Literature groups (reading and discussion of young adult novels)
•	Watercolor and poetry workshops
•	Music, poetry and painting
•	Mindful meditation, watercolor and flowers
•	Beginning French language and art
•	Vocabulary practice through movement and drama
•	Pop up classes on culture and art
•	Art history and artist features
•	5th Grade US History studies
•	Bookmaking
•	Zines
•	Flower Painting and Arranging
Pet Portraits and puppy behaviors

Not only do I have a passion for the arts, but I also love teaching and igniting the spark of learning in my students. It is truly my goal to help my students discover their own creativity and tap into the artist or writer within and have fun while doing it. In my classes, students learn to embrace a growth mindset and practice mindfulness. We practice skills that will prepare them to be responsible citizens in a global world. It is truly a joy to connect with each of my students.

When I am not teaching, you can find me creating my own art, using bright and cheerful colors or running up and down mountains breathing in the fresh, natural air. I love spending time with my two sons, my husband, and our new puppy. You may even get a chance to see her in class sometime if you're lucky.

I hope you will join me in my next learning adventure! 🌈Remember, Creativity is not canceled, it is here to stay and will help send us on our way! Be Kind, Be Creative and Stay Safe.

Warmly,

 💕 Mrs. Silitch
