Description
Class Experience
By the end of the semester students and parents will be confident in knowing that all required topics in 8th grade Physical Science necessary to move onto high school Science have been covered and covered very well.
I am passionate about science and always have been since I was a child. I was always in a science club in high school and college. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University and an applied degree from the University of Groningen in The Netherlands. I have 6 years of experience as a merit badge counselor through Boy Scouts of America, teaching Chemistry, Animal Science, Environmental Science, First Aid, Genealogy, Nuclear Science, Plant Science & Life Saving. I am in independent contractor for the American Red Cross, specializing in training all facets of emergency science and what methods are best used for life saving skills and why science makes them possible. I have 3 years of science teaching experience through my son's science club in middle school. I have been teaching very successful Chemistry and Anatomy classes through Outschool for over one year and have stellar reviews that make me proud to do what I do.
There will be one small homework assignment (no more than one hour of work per week), assigned each week. There will be one quiz every other week. Students will have one week to study for material covered on each quiz. There will also be a small lab project or model each month to be done at home using a classroom lab or model report form. Students will have a notebook that they will be asked to use in each class and keep throughout the semester that will be turned in one week prior to the last day of class. Grades are based on in-class assignments, homework effort, quizzes, lab & model report efforts, and lab notebook efforts.
Grades are given through the Outschool classroom and emailed as percentages. For example, if a student received 8 our 10 questions correct, the grade will be 80%.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
