I am a certified school teacher. For the past 15 years, I have been teaching music and choir. I teach Japanese Language and Culture during the short Winter term. I was born and raised in Japan, and I love to share my experience and knowledge with you.
Reviewing the materials we cover in class is always important. Each student will be asked to do an oral presentation on the last day of instruction.
You will need a pencil and paper. You might want to use flashcards to memorize vocabulary.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be evaluated formatively based on their class participation.
3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Class might use a short video clip - 5 to 8 minutes - from https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/tv/japanologyplus/. Intent is to show the culture in action. Topics may include the use of robots and the food culture.
