Class Experience

I will explain what a Sudoku puzzle is and what the goal is. Then we will go over a few different strategies for solving these puzzles together. For each strategy I will explain it, then demonstrate it and then have the students attempt it together and then alone. I like to use a gradual release when I teach something. The students will solve some full puzzles to finish up the class section as a group and then individually too. The first half the class will be done mainly on slides with group discussions, and then at the end it will be more individualized and I will be able to check in with each student to see how they are doing and answer any questions they may have.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Wisconsin Teaching Certificate in Mathematics
I taught math classes (algebra 1, Geometry, Statistics) for the middle and high school students in a tradition classroom. I have over 5 years of in the classroom teaching experience. I have also been tutoring mathematics (mainly Algebra and Statistics) online for over four years and the students have had much success. The students range from 6th grade to college (adult learners). I have a Wisconsin teaching license in Mathematics. I have always had a passion for teaching and love to see students succeed. I like to work with a gradual release model of teaching. I often do examples to start and then move to the class working together through examples and eventually it will be the student doing the examples by themselves. Following this method helps me and the students themselves know that they are capable of performing the task/skill without a large chance of failure. As I said before teaching is a passion of mine as is sports of all kinds (playing and watching). My favorite sport would have to be basketball. My other passion is being a stay at home mother to my 3 children. I have a 4.5 year old daughter and twin 3.5 year old boys, which is why I took a step back from being a tradition classroom teacher, but missed the connection with students and wanted to teach again in a way that works for me and my family.
