Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
PLEASE NOTE: this class is in very high demand in the fall when students begin to work on school admission applications. If you expect to apply to a new school for the 2025-26 school year, the appropriate time to begin interview practice is fall 2024. I am already booking students for this time frame. I enroll students by request only. If you see any "availability" listed on line, it is likely to be incorrect. Please contact me to discuss up to date availability. I work very hard to fit new students into my schedule. I recommend that we find an agreeable day/time and book it through the fall for adequate prep time.

In this private class I will help your child become comfortable in an interview. I will discuss appropriate body language, voice intonation, focus, and the need to answer questions concisely. We will practice these skills and a variety of common interview questions. Students usually sign up for this class repeatedly over the course of many weeks and we work to improve their skills in each class. Eventually, I spend about 20 minutes in a mock interview which hopefully will closely mimic the actual interview experience. This class can be tailored depending on whether the interview is for an independent school, religious school or a part time job. I am also able to assist students who are applying for schools outside of the US, or foreign students who hope to attend school in the US. I have assisted many children in this process and I understand the stress that they often face. In my class we will systematically address common concerns, then focus on preparing the child for a successful interview.

Interviews are a critical component of obtaining new jobs, volunteer opportunities and admittance to schools. With a few specific suggestions, practice and feedback, your child can project more confidence and be more likely to succeed. Successful interviewing skills are an asset throughout life. I firmly believe that interview skills will be critical for school admission, but that they also form a building block for lifelong success.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their ability to interview confidently, competently and concisely. The ability to "wow" and interviewer is invaluable.
