50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Hello! Welcome to my classroom. I'm teacher Allison and in this one-time class, we will do so much in 50 minutes. It is packed with lots of engagement and activities. This class is recommended for beginning English language learners and for students who are beginning to learn how to construct a complete sentence. This is a simplistic breakdown of the parts of a sentence. Through presentation slide activities and games, we will review the basic subject-verb agreement rules and will fix grammar mistakes. This lesson is part two and builds upon the next lesson that reviews more complicated sentence structures. We will wrap up by applying what we learned in class with a worksheet. Don't worry if you can't get the worksheet to print out, your student can do this activity with us on any sheet of paper or whiteboard. This class is ideal for learners who are just starting to learn to write and want to be able to edit their grammar mistakes. This is a laid back but structured class where students are welcomed and encouraged to share ideas. Then, we will say our goodbyes. All learners will have the opportunity to respond and ask questions during this activity. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
Learning Goals
The learning goal for this lesson is to create simplistic sentences and use their new-found knowledge as a tool to scaffold into harder writing lessons. Students will learn what a direct and indirect object is in a sentence and how to use this information to write a correct sentence.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! My name is Allison, which is my middle name and what my friends and family call me. I'm excited to meet your child in my classroom. I'm happy to be here and to talk to you about my teaching background. I'm a graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. I graduated with a Master's degree in Education with an emphasis on preschool and Gifted and Talented. I am a certified teacher, certified to teach grades PreK-8 with ESL in all subjects. I taught in a public school classroom, public school intervention, and adult education classes for 11 years. For three years, I was a successful private tutor for SAT/ACT and College Preparatory, where I successfully help many students increase their scores and obtain their University goals. Currently, I have been teaching nontraditional online ESL classes for over four years. My passions are teaching science, history, and math. My favorite thing to witness is the excitement a student displays when they grasp certain subjects they initially found difficult. Students should feel engaged and interested in their lessons by moving and engaging all their senses; therefore, I scaffold lessons using Kinesthetic, Visual, and Auditory examples for a deeper understanding of the material. Learning should be fun and have an adventurous spirit; therefore, I have a blended teaching style that includes discovery, positive reinforcement, and critical thinking.
