1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This ongoing class will be fun for the learners but also involves thought-provoking questions, brain teasers, jokes, riddles, and “would you rather” questions. The jokes, riddles and “would you rather” questions are fun but also enhance thinking skills and making choices. Each week the class will begin with stuffy sharing. I use stuffies in some of my classes because they represent comfort, security, calming, and love. Stuffies are often a child’s first friend and usually given by a loved one. Learners will share and introduce a favorite stuffy, tell us how the got the stuffy if they know, and what they live about their stuffy. After stuffy share the class will involve age appropriate discussion questions and the other fun activities depending on the week. This class requires no previous experience or knowledge and is highly interactive. This class, using sharing, discussion questions, jokes and riddles offers a fun-filled way for learners to: Enhance critical-thinking skills Exercise memory skills Use their ability to reason Expand vocabulary, language and speech Practice problem-solving skills Expand curiosity and creativity Develop a sense of humor Week One, May 19, 2021: Stuffy share, topic-kid’s discussion questions (“what makes you laugh”?) and riddles Week Two, May 26, 2021: Stuffy share, topic-kid’s discussion questions, (“if you could be an animal what would you be, why”?) and jokes Week Three, May 27, 2021: Stuffy share, topic-kid’s discussion questions, (“if you could have a superpower what would it be”?) and brain teasers Week Four, June 2, 2021: Stuffy share, topic-kid’s discussion questions, (“if you could have three wishes what would you choose”?) and “would you rather” questions Other Kid’s Discussion Questions to be used when time permits: What is your favorite song, would you like to sing a little of it? If you could do anything you want tomorrow what would you do? What is your favorite color? What makes you happy? What is something you are good at? What do you want to be when you grow up? Who is your best friend and why are they your best friend? What is the best thing about your family? What is something you are grateful for?

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a masters degree in education/school counseling. I have been in education for over 30 years working at all levels. I started in middle school which I loved but then was asked to go to various elementary schools. I was a little skeptical but then found I loved that level also. Finally I was asked to start some programs at the high schools. Would I be able to enjoy and have great rapport with them? Yes, loved that level too, I just love working with kids of all ages! I want students to be successful learners. Research has established that social and emotional (SEL) skills play an important role in having success in school and in life. It has even been shown that students with good SEL skills score better on tests. It is my passion and mission to help students become healthy learners and that will be the goal of the classes I teach.
I like to be outside gardening, hiking, and playing with my grandkids. I look forward to many happy and rewarding experiences with my future students.
