First, we will introduce ourselves and our stuffed animals to our classmates. Next, we will read a story together. Students will take turns reading aloud. We will discuss the story together. Teacher will facilitate the discussion with questions based on common core ELA standards. Finally, we will create an illustration and share it with the class.
Identify key details in a text Discuss characters, settings, and events. Identify new vocabulary, infer meaning through surrounding text. Discuss illustrations and create our own illustrations related to the text.
Paper and crayons or markers for illustration.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
