This class will cover and introduce multiple note-taking methods, organizational strategies, study techniques, and understanding learning styles. This class is lecture style with visual aids and short practice activities. We will also include discussion time for students to share any strategies they implement for studying as well as discussion about learning styles. ✏️ Note-Taking Methods: We will introduce various methods of taking notes such as mapping, outlining, and more formal systems like Cornell notes. Students will practice these methods to understand which systems best suit their learning needs and be ready to implement them in their future courses. 📝 Organizational Strategies: Skills such as planning, time management, checklists, prioritizing, and setting personal goals will put students on the road to success and create good learning habits for the future. ✏️ Study Techniques: There is more to studying than flashcards! We will go over methods such as the Pomodoro technique, Leitner system, and Feynman technique so that students have a multitude of choices in their study toolkit. 📝 Learning Styles: Understanding one's learning style is the key to academic success. Some students learn better visually, while others learn best through hands-on activity. We will discuss the different learning styles so students can apply new methods to their study.
