Study Skills: What to Do When You're Stuck

Have you ever stared at a blank page, or reread the same paragraph 7 times, or worked through a problem over and over? Sometimes you just get stuck. This class teaches you how to get unstuck.

Class Experience

Students will learn 6 things they can do when they feel stuck while working on schoolwork (or anything really).
In my continuing education as a teacher, I've done extensive research into the science of learning. As a writing teacher and professional writer, I'm also a research expert. Also, as a writer, I've had to learn a lot of unsticking techniques myself! When you stare a blank page and you're coming up against a client deadline, it's a lot of pressure; and if you get stuck, you'd better have a plan in place to get out of it.

I have a heart for study skills because I've seen so many students struggle unnecessarily. Some feel like learning is too difficult, so they hate it - but there are ways to make it easier! Other students feel overloaded and overwhelmed - but there are ways to work more efficiently and effectively! I'm excited to share these tips, tricks, habits, and techniques with my students.
A handout will be provided for the students to fill out during class. It will need to be printed because some parts are written and some are drawn. (No drawing skills are necessary, stick-figure-level drawing is fine.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
