Week 1Lesson 1Goal SettingWe will explore character strengths and learn how to create a personalized action plan for achieving goals through in-class activities, group and partner work, and self-reflections.Lesson 2Time ManagementThe class will start with a mindful multitasking exercise after which we will learn how to plan and organize for success using various time management tools and techniques.Week 2Lesson 3Note Taking & Test TakingWe will learn about various note taking and test taking techniques. We will put these skills into practice while watching a TED talk in preparation for a short quiz at the end of the lesson.Lesson 4Writing SkillsWe will learn about the essay writing process, thesis development, essay organization, argumentation, research methods, and proper citation techniques.
1. Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals for academic achievement, outlining clear objectives for improving test scores, writing skills, and overall academic performance throughout the course. 2. Develop effective time management strategies to allocate study time efficiently, allowing for adequate preparation for tests and writing assignments while maintaining a healthy balance with other activities. 3. Enhance note-taking techniques such as summarizing, annotating, and organizing information to capture key concepts effectively during lectures and reading assignments, aiding comprehension and retention for test preparation. 4. Master test-taking strategies, including time management during exams, effective question analysis, and applying critical thinking skills to approach different types of test questions with confidence and accuracy. 5. Improve writing skills through structured practice in planning, drafting, revising, and editing essays and other written assignments, focusing on clarity, coherence, and evidence-based argumentation to communicate ideas effectively in academic contexts.

Homework Offered
