In this ongoing course, students will meet with the teacher to learn and practice note taking techniques using mainstream news media. We will practice note taking, finding main ideas, and defining words within context.
Class Experience
Students will work with instructor to build note taking skills. Students will be introduced to different techniques, resources, and important details when it comes to taking notes. We will review mainstream news articles and videos as we discuss what is noteworthy in a Socratic Seminar. Each week the reading and watching schedule will be discussed and determined based on the flow of the seminar. Students will learn to take effective and useful notes. Students will participate in Socratic Seminars in alignment with the Common Core Anchor Standards » College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards for Speaking and Listening. Students will be able to compare and contrast mainstream media and the impact of human experience.
