Study Skills for the Middle and Early High School Student

Join us as we go from bare-bones basics of setting up a study space (within the confines of what's available) through organizing your spaces (including electronic files), creating schedules, how to set good (and achievable) goals, various note-taking strategies and reading strategies for comprehension.

Each week students will absolutely have homework as they implement the things we learn in class.  They do not have to be enrolled in any special/outside classes to appropriately participate.  They WILL need access to a textbook of any kind for week #4's class (they will be reminded the prior week and the reminder will also be posted in the classroom during the prior week).

Students will receive at least 2 (but possibly up to 5) printables each week that will need to be printed BEFORE class.  They will also receive homework printables that will be posted after class for working during the week.

Topics covered over the course include:

* Organizing paper and electronic files and materials
* Time management and study routines
* Setting goals, meeting deadlines and prioritizing work
* Identifying and using quality resources
* Note-taking and reading strategies
