Assessment
Skills are assessed with an informal decoding survey and an oral fluency check and the results are sent in a written report.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 6
Is your child struggling to read grade-level text? Does your child feel like reading is a chore? Does your child lack strategies for sounding out unfamiliar words? In this one time class, I will administer Beginner and Advanced Decoding Surveys that will pinpoint underlying weaknesses in Basic Reading Skills. Assessment areas include high-frequency words, single-syllable decodable words with blends, digraphs, short vowels, advanced vowel patterns, and multi-syllable words. The class will be conducted with Google Slides. I will interpret the results and make suggestions for instruction. The parent will receive the report within one week of class completion. I hope you consider enrolling your child in one of my 1:1 tutoring classes. These surveys are appropriate for children in 2nd grade through 11th grade.
Learning Goals
Students will be given decoding surveys to pinpoint specific weaknesses in Basic Reading Skills.
Findings and suggestions for instruction will be provided to parent.

Supply List
No supplies are needed, but a headset and microphone are helpful. Please make sure the learner is in a noise-free environment.

I have been a teacher in Texas for more than thirty years. My experience includes Dyslexia Intervention, Academic Coach, Reading/Language Arts Teacher, and Small Group Intervention. I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
I am passionate about teaching struggling readers. I use a multi-sensory approach to teaching Basic Language Skills, which includes: phonology, sound-symbol association, syllable instruction, morphology, syntax, and semantics.
My interests include reading, travel, word games, puzzles, and rock collecting.
