• Introduction to the nouns, verbs, adjectives, subject, and predicate. • Adjective, noun, verb Strong sentence structure. • Students are NOT EXPECTED TO MASTER these concepts, just become familiar with them. • Clear and cohesive descriptive sentences using adjectives, nouns, and verbs. ** I do my best to engage all learners in the class regardless of their abilities, however I understand some students can be a little more shy in a one-time class. Please encourage your learner to participate. The more participation a student has in class, the better he or she will understand the concepts being taught.
My love of writing started when I was 8 years old and hasn't stopped. I'm a published author (fiction and nonfiction,) writing teacher, homeschooler, and tutor who's worked with gifted and struggling kids for over 20 years. I saw a gap and a need when it came to writing because children didn't have a basic knowledge of parts or speech, sentence structure, or paragraph writing. I developed a program with fun techniques to engage them to write powerful and sometimes silly sentences. The techniques seemed to work with kids who loved writing as well as those who didn't. I'm excited to bring my program online to an even bigger audience. What parents are saying: Gina is a phenomenal writing teacher! We have loved working with her. We have a range of ages and she is great at adapting to their ages and learning styles. She's very patient and good at helping them focus. My kids have learned so much and been stretched and challenged in the area of writing. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to advance in any area of writing! - Bethany mother of K, 1, 3, 4 tutored students.
Worksheets will be provided to use during and after class. But since this is a one-time class, no homework will be required to be turned in. Parents are expected to check over and monitor their child's progress.
* A pdf syllabus will be uploaded in the classroom each day before class for the students to print out and use as a guide. * Learners should also have a pencil to write with.
* Assessments will be done in class through class participation and sentence writing. Parents will be notified if student needs more help in a certain area, but it is up to the parent work with the child outside of class. * It is parent's responsibility to follow up with any questions and concerns. * A more formal assessment is available on request only. * Consultations for next class recommendations are available by request.

***PARENTS PLEASE READ BEFORE TO REGISTRATION*** CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: I will start each class announcing my class expectations which include: **NO using the chat box for messages not relative to the discussion and questions **NO drawing and writing on the screen I use for teaching **NO learning sharing their screen for any reason **NO disruptive behavior such as flashing lights in the screen and constantly switching their background While I understand many students are new to online learning, if a student does not respond to correction and continues disruptive behavior, he or she will be asked to leave the class for the day or the rest of the time. Videos may be accessed, however no refund will be issued if learner does not show cooperation in correction and is asked to leave class. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING these rules are in place due to problems in past classes (with younger students) and are enforced to ensure that ALL students have the best experience possible.

I love seeing students get excited about writing, even reluctant writers. Ever since I was 8 years old, I've been journaling and writing poetry to express things I couldn't speak out loud or didn't know how to. My thoughts just came out better...
