Class Experience

This full-body stretching class is accessible to all ability levels and no equipment is required for the class. Exercises are functional, bodyweight exercises and stretches adaptable for different fitness levels. Students will stretch to follow-along videos in real-time that provide detailed instructions, positive motivation, and demonstrations to help the students to work towards their flexibility goals while having fun. The videos are designed to help the students feel like they are face-to-face with a live instructor while enjoying the privacy and freedom of training independently at the time that best suits their schedule. Depending on the student's flexibility goals, they will be able to choose the training modules that best suit their interests so they can focus their time and energy on the areas of flexibility that they are most interested in improving.

Students will have access to warm-up videos as well as videos focusing on each different flexibility goal to follow along with in real-time. The students will complete 3 training modules each week (spaced out with a day of rest between each). Each module throughout the entire course introduces a unique combination of exercises for the students and the flexible time constraints allow them to complete the workout at a time that best suits them. Students will be required to upload information from their training to the classroom page to help them track their progress and stay accountable.

The warm-up video given to the students to follow along with is designed to increase heart rate, calm the nervous system, and fortify against injuries. The main portion of each class will include active and passive flexibility exercises. Each module will end with a cool-down period incorporating exercises to maintain muscular and joint health.

Throughout the course, students will interact with their fellow classmates as well as the teacher to further reinforce the learning goals of the class as well as establish self-sufficiency and creativity with their training. Optional, live meetings will be included for students to be able to check-in with the teacher and talk with their classmates.

Please contact me if your child has any injuries, pains, disabilities, or fears that might affect the exercises they can participate in during class so that I can be prepared with alternative exercises for them.

Parental Guidance
This class is an exercise-based class. Students should have an open workout space free of dangerous and fragile objects that has a diameter of at least 1.5 times the height of the student. Students should wear comfortable workout apparel and have a water bottle nearby. The class will be performed barefoot and contain a warm-up period sufficient for the exercises performed in class. The exercises given in this class are designed for the students to do without a spotter or direct supervision. It is important to understand that injury is always possible when engaging in physical activities, so adult supervision is still encouraged to minimize the risk.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a fitness coach and professional acrobat passionate about health and fitness. During my time as a middle school science teacher, I integrated a more prominent fitness unit into the life science curriculum to help students learn about the health benefits of exercise and the variety of exercise types that are vital to the growing body as well as into adulthood. Additionally, I have been teaching fitness, gymnastics, and circus arts for 10 years to students aged 5-55 through a variety of camps, afterschool programs, gyms, recreational and professional institutions. I have experience teaching large groups, small classes, and private lessons, and have developed programs for one-on-one clients and recreational group classes. As a professional athlete, I combined my personal experience with practices learned from a variety of fitness and health professionals including physiotherapists, sports trainers, personal trainers, coaches, and teachers to create a well-rounded and inclusive exercise program.
